Summer Dental Care Tips
We don’t know about you, but we are loving the summer weather and long days! As fun as summer may be, it is still important that you continue to care for your oral health. You might be surprised at how quickly problems can creep up and lead to oral health complications. We would hate for you to experience any problems during the summer. Read on to learn more about the importance of caring for your teeth this summer.
Caring For Your Teeth This Summer
Following these tips will ensure you have excellent oral health through the summer and into the fall:
Maintain Your Oral Hygiene Routine
Summer’s longer days give you ample time to spend with family and friends doing fun activities and much more. We want to remind all our patients to continue cleaning their teeth properly during the summer. We know that, some days, you’ll be tired and won’t feel like taking care of your teeth, but you need to ensure you do not have problems with your teeth and gums in the fall. Always brush your teeth for at least two minutes twice a day and use dental floss daily.
Schedule Your Next Appointment
Summer is perfect for scheduling your next oral hygiene examination and cleaning. If it has been more than six months since you and your loved ones visited our office for your routine examinations, this is the perfect time to schedule your next appointment. You could take advantage of a more relaxed schedule and get the appointments that you need. This is also ideal for college students who are home on summer break. We also encourage patients who have not scheduled a recommended dental treatment to do so at this time. We would hate for any of our patients to experience oral health complications because they have not visited our office for a cleaning or recommended treatment.
Pack for Travel
We love hearing about all of our patients’ summer vacation plans. If you have a trip or vacation in the near future, it is important to pack the supplies you will need for your oral health, including toothbrushes, toothpaste, dental floss, and mouthwash. It is also important to pack any hardware or oral appliances you use daily as part of your treatment plan. This is especially important if you are receiving orthodontic treatment or being treated for sleep apnea or TMJ and use an appliance.
If you or a loved one experiences any oral health complications during the summer, we encourage you to reach out to our office, which is located in Meridian, ID, to schedule an appointment. We hope you and your family have a wonderful summer!
