Has It Been Six Months Already? Better Check The Calendar!
When did you last visit our office for an oral hygiene examination and cleaning? If it has been over six months, you are due for a visit. Even if you have excellent oral health, routine appointments allow us to help you avoid experiencing implications and problems. Only visiting our office when you are experiencing a concern means opening yourself up to procedures and treatments that may have been prevented. Read on to learn more about the importance of routine dental care.
Isn’t Brushing My Teeth at Home Enough?
We recommend all patients visit our office for an oral hygiene examination and cleaning every four to six months. This includes patients with an excellent oral hygiene routine who brush and floss their teeth every day. During routine appointments, we properly clean the teeth and remove tartar and bacteria that have accumulated in the nooks and crannies between the teeth and along the gumline. Regularly removing this bacteria helps prevent tooth decay and gum disease.
We Look for Warning Signs
During routine appointments, we not only clean the teeth and remove lingering plaque and tartar, but we also look for problems such as decay, gum disease, and oral cancer. If these conditions go undetected, they can become real health concerns. Keep in mind that dental problems do not heal on their own. Tooth decay will continue to worsen until treatment is received or you experience a dental emergency. Gum disease that remains untreated can lead to more severe problems, increasing your risk for diabetes and heart disease. Untreated oral cancer can be life-threatening.
If it has been longer than six months since you and your loved ones have visited us for an oral hygiene examination and cleaning, we encourage you to contact our office, located in Meridian, ID, to schedule an appointment. We are also happy to determine when you are due for your next appointment and schedule any necessary treatments you may need. We look forward to seeing you soon!
